Thrash is a new ability that will be added in Cata that deals damage and causes all targets within 10 yards to bleed for six seconds. It has been designed in tandem with Swipe, which will have a talent that causes it do deal more damage to bleeding targets.
The idea here is to make druid tanking a bit more interesting – blizzard have said themselves that they want to give feral tanks a few more abilities in cataclysm. Having played a bear for most of WotLK I know how boring it could be at times. We had hardly any buttons to press in our threat building rotation, so this is great news!
The only downside I can see is that it costs 25 rage – which is quite a lot, especially at the beginning of a pull. According to reports from beta, Swipe's threat is going to be very low so this could lead to aggro-holding problems on AOE packs. I guess we will just have see how it pans out.
